Treatments

Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a health care profession dedicated to the non-surgical treatment of disorders of the neuro-musculoskeletal system. Generally, chiropractors maintain a unique focus on spinal manipulation and treatment of surrounding structures.

A multidisciplinary approach that combines spinal adjustment with other modalities such as physical therapy, exercise training, and nutritional counseling.

Chiropractic adjusting is a gentle, generally pain-free experience that can help maintain, heal, or restore many our most common complaints.

Proper mobility and function of the joints of the body is essential for active people and those who work long hours.  For example: people who sit long hours at a desk can experience headaches, neck and shoulder pain from muscle imbalances and joint dysfunction. Chiropractic treatment along with specific muscle work can result in relief from headaches and other sitting related pain.

Chronic pain, improper treatment of injuries, and past surgical procedures can cause a buildup of scar tissue. This can impair the proper movement of joints, muscle, tendons and ligaments causing many painful conditions. Chiropractic along with other scar-tissue focused treatments like ART or Graston is an effective method of breaking down scar tissue. Reliving the patient of pain and chronic inflammation in the area.

Physical Therapy

The purpose of physical therapy is to reduce inflammation and relax tight muscles. Trained physical therapists can use several forms of therapy to improve your body's comfort, strength, and flexibility. The Physical Therapists at Bangkok Family Chiropractic have 4 years of specialty training and have passed the national board exams.

Some modalities the PT may use is necessary

  • exercise/stretch training

Sometimes the cause of the problem isn't always clear. Is it muscle or joint? Maybe both? Or some other component? At Bangkok Family Chiropractic we treat the surrounding muscle tissue as well as the joint because very often each has a component to your problem.

ART (Active Release Technique)

ART is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system that is movement based.
The technique is used to treat problems that involve the muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves.

ART uses the examiners hands to apply the technique. The main goal is to reestablish proper motion between muscles and fascia while reducing fibrous adhesions. Ultimately myofascial (muscle and fascia) and neural (nerves) glide is reestablished allowing for proper function.

The technique can be used on patients with acute, chronic, overuse, repetitive strain injuries and postoperative cases of all types. The number of postoperative cases ART providers see is growing steadily due to the scar tissue development involved in healing.

Graston Technique and Gua Shaw

Graston Technique® is a unique, evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) that enables clinicians to effectively address scar tissue, fascial restrictions and range of motion through comprehensive training, resulting in improved patient outcomes.

Gua Shaw is a traditional Chinese medical treatment in which the skin is scraped to produce light bruising. Practitioners believe gua shareleases unhealthy elements from injured areas and stimulates blood flow and healing.

Kinesio Taping

The Kinesio Taping® Method is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting.Latex-free and wearable for days at a time, Kinesio® Tex Tape is safe for populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric, and successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions.
